Champions & Fundraisers
Throughout the year selfless individuals take on fantastic fundraisers, crazy challenges and amazing activities to support our work and we salute our “Bright Star Champions”.
A full time firefighter with a massive heart, Warren and his colleagues organised a sporting spectacular for the Trust, which raised over £6,500.
Warren said... "I am proud to work for West Midlands Fire Service, love my sport (Boxing). I feel strongly about making a difference to the lives of children and families.
This is a powerful combination, and I know together we can raise much needed funds for such a great cause and help in making a difference to those in our community that need us most."
Lisa’s son received help from the Boparan Charitable Trust in 2013, with a car seat for her son.
Lisa said... "Boparan helped my child who has a condition called Ehlers Danlos syndrome, with additional learning disabilities by funding a specialist car seat that provides him with safety and a comfortable journey.
Boparan listened to us and looked at us holistically when deciding whether we were eligible for help. For this reason I decided to give something back by running the Great Birmingham Run in 2015 with a team of friends. Raising over £1,700 for the Trust."
A keen sporting duo, Michelle and Natalie are keen sporting women, having done everything from boxing to running. They recently played their part in supporting the Trust by taking the on the Birmingham 10Km.
Michelle said “I heard about the Trust through a friend and saw that they had the 10Km, as one of their fantastic fundraising challenges in 2015. I got on the phone to Nat and next thing you know we were pounding the streets of Birmingham. We are glad to make a difference”
When Jonathon May died suddenly at the age of 40, his family decided to see if they could help others and asked for donations instead of flowers. Jonathon was actively involved in a number of Children’s charities, and so the Boparan Charitable Trust was an obvious choice for the family.
Alastair, his younger brother, said “We never thought so much money would be raised. Our warm and heartfelt thanks to every single person who donated. It means such a lot to us all. And a special thanks to GE, his former employer, for not only their generosity, but also for the genuinely caring support shown to our family during such a difficult time. Thank you”
During the day Sarah is busy working in the HR Department for Holland Pies, this does not stop her fundraising for the Trust. In the last 12 months alone, she got fit and did a 5Km run... transformed Holland’s Offices into a Christmas Wonderland and also masterminded the Great Holland Bake Off.
Sarah said... “18 months ago I hadn’t even heard of the Trust. When the Team first came to the site I was a little dubious and thought “just another Charity asking for our money. How wrong was I!!!. We were very lucky to be given a presentation from the Charity Team telling us about the great work they do – we had not a dry eye between us by the time we had finished. I instantly felt a connection to the Trust and the work they do."
